Method to Calculate IELTS Exam Result

Students taking the IELTS must know how to calculate their scores. The IELTS band score lies between 0 and 9. Students can also secure scores in decimals like 5.5, 7.5, and so on. The overall IELTS score is based on the score they achieve in each section of the IELTS exam. 

For example, if the average is found to be below a single decimal place, 6.25, for example, the bands are rounded to the closest band score. The final band score, in this case, will be 6.5.

There are various ways to check IELTS exam results, such as through emails, SMS, online platforms, or by directly visiting the exam centre. Additionally, if you take the paper-based exam, the results will be declared 13 days from the day the Listening, Reading and Writing test is taken, and if you  appear for computer-based exam, your results will be declared online after three to five days, which become available to you online, it doesn’t matter which IELTS exam body you took it from.

How can you check IELTS results at the exam centre/offline?

If you have enrolled for the IELTS exam directly through the exam centre, you won’t receive any SMS, fax, or email. Hence, to check your IELTS exam results from the exam centre, you have to show your passport, ID proof, and student number. 

How can you check IELTS results online?

You can check IELTS test results online also by following a few steps:

Step 1:  You can browse the official website of IDP IELTS.

Step 2: After that, you have to enter your login information on the IDP IELTS result page.

Step 3: Click on the result option and select the exam date

Step 4: Fill in all the necessary information like ID number, applicant number and date of birth, and click on submit to get your results.

Now, you can download the IELTS results and keep them safe for future use or until you get the Test Form Report (TRF).

How can you Check IELTS Results through SMS?

IELTS exam results can also be sent to applicants by SMS. On the day of the results, participants need to send an SMS in the specified format to 9289892898 after 12:00 p.m.

IELTS Test Report Form (TRF)

If you have appeared for the computer-based exam, the IELTS results will be accessible online 3 to 5 days after the exam date, and if you have chosen the paper-based exam, they will be available in 13 days. The candidate can request that further test reports be delivered directly to the colleges or universities.

Personal Test Report Form

The Test Report Form (TRF), which is given to candidates, indicates an overall band score in addition to a score for each of the four skills (Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing). Additionally, since candidates won't receive another copy of the Test Report Form, keeping yours secure is critical. A TRF scorecard will be sent to the students via courier or speed post. Students receive an SMS with the tracking number as soon as it is scheduled for delivery. As a whole, after the results are announced, it may take up to 10 days to obtain the scores.

Validity of the IELTS Results

Your IELTS score is valid for two years. You can submit your results to as many universities as you'd like during these two years. After that, test takers will not be able to use their results. An Enquiry on Results (EOR) must be requested within six weeks of the initial test date. If the regrading procedure leads to a modification in the score, the extra cost will be reimbursed. Overall, the complete application and revision process can take up to six weeks. 

Ways to Request for EOR

• Click on the EOR tab after logging into your IELTS IDP account.

• After selecting "Apply Now," fill out the form with the necessary information.

• Select the specific portions that want a re-evaluation. 

• You will get an invoice for the re-evaluation within two business days.

• Use the link in the email to finish the payment.

• Your re-evaluation result should arrive in 2–21 business days. 

Difference between Retake the IELTS Exam and the IELTS One Skill Retake

There is a very basic difference between Retake the IELTS exam and One Skill Retake and the same has been discussed below:

IELTS Retake

• Retaking the IELTS exam is an option for test takers who may have yet to receive the desired score on their first attempt or who wish to improve their performance. To retake the IELTS exam, candidates must go to the official website and schedule a new exam date. Applicants must pay the IELTS exam cost of INR 17,000 and choose their preferred test centre.

• Candidates should use their prior exam experience as a teaching tool. They should determine the areas that require improvement and direct their preparation efforts in those directions. In addition to reviewing the test format and practice questions, candidates should consider consulting tutors or preparing courses for assistance. It is recommended that test takers come to the testing location early on test day and bring the required forms of identification.

• Completing all exam portions requires adhering to the guidelines supplied by the test administrators. Retaking the IELTS exam necessitates concentrated study and dedication to enhancing your language proficiency. Therefore, use your prior exam experience to help you pinpoint areas that need development and strive for the score you want.

IELTS One Skill Retake

• The conducting authority has improved the test experience for candidates by introducing the IELTS One Skill Retake. If candidates perform poorly on test day in any of the four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking—they can take advantage of the IELTS One Skill Retake to improve their overall score. Within 60 days of their first test day, candidates may retake any one skill on the IELTS exam under the terms of the IELTS One Skill Retake. 

• With the updated IELTS scores for the other three skills in the original test, candidates would receive a second Test Report Form (TRF) containing the IELTS One Skill Retake results. Applicants can submit the original Test Report Form or the updated one. 

• The IELTS One Skill Retake is offered in certain testing locations for the IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training exams. Nonetheless, all IELTS computer-delivered test locations provide the IELTS One Skill Retake.

Tips to Send IELTS Exam Results to Universities

Applicants can send free soft copies of their IELTS scorecard to five universities. Candidates can select the universities when registering for the IELTS .

• During the IELTS registration procedure, candidates will be able to select five different institutions to which their IELTS results might be sent. Note that your IELTS exam fee of INR 17,000 includes the cost of sending you to five universities.

• If you want to send your IELTS results to the universities in which you want to enrol, the conducting authority will send your score directly to the universities.
