Describe your favourite weather

Overview

The speaking portion of the IELTS exam, where students must use speech to demonstrate their language skills, is a crucial component. Since they don't regularly communicate in English, some students may find this specific section of the exam intimidating. It's a three-part segment that lasts 11–14 minutes.

We'll discuss the second and third sections of the speaking test on the blog today. These provide a topic for the cue card and a few supplementary questions. The student has a set amount of time to talk about and answer the questions. Let's get started! We've selected the often-asked cue card question, "Describe your favourite weather," for the sample responses.

IELTS Speaking Part 3- Follow-up questions

Question- Is the weather a factor in the economy?

Answer- Yes, the weather greatly impacts industries like tourism and agriculture. For instance, increased food yields during a successful monsoon season benefit farmers and the economy. On the other hand, severe weather can disrupt travel and outdoor activities, lowering tourism-related income.

Question- Do you often pay attention to the weather forecast? Why?/Why not?

Answer- Yes, I regularly check the weather forecast. It aids in my decision-making about proper attire and outdoor activity planning. I know the weather so that I can be ready for changes throughout the day.

Question- Why do some people dislike certain types of weather?

Answer- Some people might dislike severe weather because it causes discomfort or trouble. For instance, extreme heat can lead to health problems like dehydration, which is uncomfortable for many people. Similarly, extended wet spells can cause dissatisfaction by interfering with daily schedules and outdoor plans.

Question- How do you feel about the climate in recent years?

Answer- Climate patterns have changed, as seen by erratic weather patterns and variable seasonal temperatures. These improvements have increased my awareness of environmental concerns and daily consideration of sustainable methods.

Question- Do people wear different clothes in different weather (or seasons)?

Answer- People's tastes in clothing indeed vary. For example, layering becomes necessary in cold weather; conversely, light-coloured clothing is advised in summer. We are expected to bring raincoats for our commutes during the monsoon season.

Question- In your country, are there any differences in economic activity in the different seasons?

Answer- Well, much of India has rather warm temperatures. The lack of severe weather during the year has the least impact on economic activity. Although activities may slow down a little, they never stop since we are a developing nation.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the speaking portion of the IELTS is an excellent way for students to communicate their ideas and emotions and demonstrate their English language command. The students' direct interaction with the examiner is the primary distinction between the speaking portion and the other sections. As a result, getting ready for it properly is crucial. The main lesson from this part is to talk as fluently as possible and refrain from using fillers. It's also important to remember to be succinct and exact in your responses because it's simple to become sidetracked by the flow.
