During the IELTS speaking test, you will have 10 to 15 minutes to demonstrate your ability to speak English. The test is broken into three parts: the introduction, the cue card topic, and the follow-up Q&A.
Understanding the test structure can help you enhance your performance. Of the three, the most difficult element is the cue card portion, in which you must discuss about a random topic which you are given.
In this blog, we will explain how to answer the popular IELTS cue card topic: Describe a time when something changed your life in good ways. So, let us get started!
A few years back, while volunteering, I visited an Indian village. The experience was wonderful and had a significant impact on my life.
I went to a village in Rajasthan in 2019. The settlement was away from the bustle of the metropolis and surrounded by great diversity.
It was an effort for medical help. Our purpose was to give the villagers the essential medical assistance. Witnessing their strength despite their limited access to healthcare facilities was commendable.
Although living in the village was difficult at first, I eventually adapted and began to feel like a community member. Through our interactions, I also learned about the locals' valuable experiences and way of life.
I've learned so much from the villagers during our limited time together. I've learned the importance of showing compassion for others and contributing constructively to society, whenever possible.
This experience has taught me to think about the people struggling with their health issues and help them in every possible way.
The encounters we have along the way influence the course of our lives. The decisions we make throughout our lives, big and small, impact our destiny. Today, I want to discuss a turning point in my life when something life-altering occurred.
It was a chilly winter evening during my first semester at college. In my room, I was struggling to get used to new surroundings.
I was struggling to deal with homesickness and the pressure of my classes when I received an unexpected call from my college counsellor. She asked me to join the school's mental health awareness group.
At first, I was nervous and hesitant to participate. Still, I decided to try it, hoping it might help me feel purposeful and comfortable in this weird new place.
Joining the mental health awareness club not only provided me with access to a valuable network but also fueled my enthusiasm for advocating for mental health. It allowed me to develop as a leader, join like-minded individuals and positively impact the college community. This experience not only improved my college years but also prepared me for a rewarding job in the mental health field.

In my opinion, the only constant in life is change, and change is always going to happen. Today, I am going to talk about one such instance that changed my life in a good way.
I was in seventh class when my mother broke the news of my father's transfer to Delhi.
I was leaving behind my best friend Anjali, with whom I have had a close friendship for five years. It was the first time that we were going to be apart.
My father's job profile was transferable, so we needed to prepare for frequent movements. Although it was difficult for me to leave the city and my friends, I also knew some good opportunities and better lifestyles awaited us.
In the beginning, I resisted and was reluctant to accept the change. However, later on, I realised over the years how important it was for us to move to a different city. Jaipur is undoubtedly a place where we were happy, but Delhi had a lot to offer regarding lifestyle, facilities, schools and job opportunities, so our lives improved here.
I sincerely thank God for this beneficial development, as it helped me understand that sometimes, changes are essential in people's lives so that they can learn new things and have new experiences.
