The IELTS speaking section is one of the pivotal sections in the IELTS exam, so you must prepare accordingly. In totality, the section is 11-14 minutes long. The first bit is where the examiner makes the students comfortable by building rapport and introducing them; right after that, the students get their cue card topics and have a minute to prepare for them. After which, the students will speak on the given topic for 3 to 4 minutes. Lastly, the examiner will ask some follow-up questions regarding the topic that has been given.
Don’t worry; this blog is here to help you respond to cue card topics as it includes sample answers and follow-up questions to the topic ' Describe your favourite clothes’ along with some follow-up questions. So, without any more delays, let’s begin!
Dresses can be a method of expressing how you are feeling or standing out. People also use clothes and dresses as expressions. I strongly believe in this and will discuss one of my favourite pieces of clothing.
The dress I am talking about is a floor-length gown. I purchased it for a special occasion, and it has been a perfect outfit ever since.
I like to wear it in places where I have to dress up for something. It is a dressy gown which looks chic and elegant.
I don’t wear it as often as I would like because it is one of the more party-going dresses, but I intend to wear it wherever possible.
The quality of the dress and its fit make it very special for me. Due to its good quality and exceptional fit, I always get complimented on it, which makes me more confident and happy. Another thing that makes that particular dress super special is that I can dress it up by accessorising it or dressing it down, which looks good in both.
To conclude, I feel good about that particular purchase. It feels good to have good-quality clothes that make you confident.

In today’s world, clothing has become a mode of expression for the generation you belong to. The younger generation adheres to fashion and trends, whereas the older ones prefer comfort and different styles of clothing. I believe that one should wear what makes them comfortable and confident. Likewise, today, I will be talking about one dress I love.
The cloth I am talking about is a pair of jeans I have purchased recently and have been wearing regularly.
I wear that pair of jeans regularly to the office if I have to hang out with my friends. They are flexible and can be worn with an office shirt and a trendy party top.
I almost wear those jeans daily because they are super comfortable and have easily become my favourite pair amongst the others I own.
What makes that pair of jeans special is that they are super comfortable and can be used for multiple purposes. It is important for me to be comfortable and feel confident in what I am wearing. Besides being the most comfortable jeans I own, the colour is a plus for me as it goes with every kind of top and shirt.
To conclude, I prefer comfort in whatever I wear, and this recent purchase serves the purpose that comes in handy for me.

We dress according to the place and occasion we are visiting. I firmly believe that every person must have a few pieces of clothing in their wardrobe; I will be talking about one such clothing piece today.
The kind of dress I am mentioning is formal clothes or, to be more precise, a pantsuit.
I like to wear formal clothes to formal events, competitions, the office, and other places where necessary.
I often wear these formal clothes as I tend to participate in competitions like MUN, debates, and moot court, which require us to wear formal clothing.
This dress is so special because it is tailor-made and appropriate for all the competitions I attend. It is also comfortable, which is rare in store-bought formal clothing.
To conclude, as I mentioned, every individual must own some formal clothing in their wardrobe, especially in today’s world, as it looks more appropriate while going to the office.

Question- Does personality have an impact on how individuals dress?
Answer- Of course! Since we wear clothing to convey who we are, our personalities influence our dress. It also makes us feel better about ourselves and increases our confidence. However, personality isn't the only factor to consider; social contexts are equally crucial. Someone who prefers loose-fitting clothing can dress in a three-piece suit for an interview or business meeting.
Question- What distinguishes the dressing habits of young individuals from those of older ones?
Answer- Young people frequently follow fashion trends and try out daring looks, all the while remembering to be comfortable so they may go about their everyday lives. Their need to impress people or show their identity drives their fashion choices. However, the older age favours traditional looks that emphasise ease of wear and complement their body types. As people age, social demands reduce, leading them to dress more for comfort than fashion. Not to add, personal choice takes centre stage alongside cultural and professional forces.
Question- What do you prefer; online shopping or offline shopping?
Answer- Since the majority of people purchase goods these days online, physical retailers are losing money. Because offline shopping has many benefits, I think offline shopping is superior to online shopping. The ability to haggle and obtain the items at the desired pricing is, first and foremost, the finest thing about offline shopping. Additionally, when we shop offline, we may physically inspect the things that are unavailable when we purchase online. Additionally, the employment of local vendors boosts the economy. For this reason, I like to shop in traditional stores for purchases.
Question- Which things do you keep in mind while buying a dress?
Answer- Comfort and occasion are important considerations when choosing a dress. I adore airy, soft materials against my skin, but I also consider the occasion. While bigger designs or new styles are acceptable for a casual outing, I might favour a flattering shape and classic colours for a formal occasion. Ultimately, it comes down to maintaining a balance between fashion and functionality because I want to feel good about myself and at ease in my clothes.
Question- What kind of clothes are worn in your country?
Answer- India's great diversity is well reflected in its fashion. Depending on the area, traditional attire like kurtas, dhotis, and sarees is still worn during festivals and special events. Younger generations, on the other hand, have mostly accepted modern trends and Western influences, resulting in a distinctive fusion of the two. So, within the same busy street, you might spot a woman wearing a chic pantsuit next to someone wearing a vibrantly coloured lehenga.
