Describe a place in your country that you think is interesting - IELTS cue card - sample answer 1

Introduction

My country, India, is a treasure of captivating places, from majestic monuments to serene beaches and rich historical sites. I find many places interesting, and I will talk about one specific place.

Where is it?

One such place that I find particularly intriguing is Morjim, a beautiful and exciting spot nestled in the heart of Goa. Olive Ridley marine turtles use it as a breeding location, and various birds also live there. Due to the large number of Russian immigrants residing in the area, it has earned the nickname "Little Russia."

How did you know it?

A few days back, I was surfing the internet when I saw a short on YouTube. As soon as I watched it, I was hooked. After that, I searched for information about it, and the place was so fascinating that I thought of visiting it once.

What special features does it have?

The Olive Ridley turtles that make Morjim Beach their home are the reason for its fame. The vital air that blows here is called "the turtle wind" because it frequently attracts these unusual turtles. Another feature of the Morjim Beach is the bioluminescence of plankton.

And explain why you think it is interesting.

It is interesting because the shacks will be open for beach parties. Moreover, its night time scenic beauty is caused by the bioluminescence of plankton. June to September is the ideal time of year to see the bioluminescence of plankton and Olive Ridley turtles at Morjim Beach, making it an exciting place to visit.

Conclusion

This Morjim palace is not just an exciting haven for nature lovers, it offers unforgettable experiences, from scenic sights to tranquil relaxation. I am eagerly looking forward to my visit this year, filled with anticipation and excitement.

Introduction

Travelling to different areas is about gaining experience and forming personal connections with these places. One place in my nation that I find deeply interesting and have a personal connection with is Chamoli, Uttarakhand.

Where is it?

Gurudwara Hemkund Sahib is a Sikh place of worship (gurudwara) and pilgrimage site in Chamoli, Uttarakhand. The main town near Govindghat is Joshimath. The lake at Hemkund is approximately 15,000 feet in elevation.

How did you know it?

Hemkunt Sahib, sometimes called Hemkund Sahib, is one of the most revered Sikh shrines, attracting thousands of pilgrims every year. According to the sacred Guru Granth Sahib, the tenth teacher of the Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh ji, is said to have meditated beside the placid banks of Hemkund Lake.

What special features does it have?

Snow-capped peaks surround Gurudwara Hemkund Sahib, Gurudwara's scenic and popular location for visitors and trekkers is the Valley of Flowers, which has scenic surroundings and numerous trek routes leading there. Apart from this, a little brook called Himganga rises from the lake.

And explain why you think it is interesting.

Hemkund Sahib is tucked away amid the Hemkund Parvat's peaks. The lake of snow that goes by the name "Hemkund" is freezing. Devotees can also bathe in a sacred lake at the Gurudwara. It is mentioned that Lakshmana, the brother of Lord Rama, used to meditate there. All these features make it an exciting place to visit.

Conclusion

Hemkund Sahib is a must-visit place, and I think everyone should visit it to witness its beauty.

Introduction

One of the most fascinating places in my country, India, is Magnetic Hill. I have known about it since I was a child.

Where is it?

A gravity hill called Magnet Hill is situated near Leh in Ladakh, India. It is around 30 km from Leh and has a signboard that reads “The Phenomenon That Defies Gravity.”

How did you know it?

Travel movies and some online articles sparked my interest in Magnet Hill. Many of my friends also told me about its stunning landscapes and distinctive Tibetan culture, which made me want to see it for myself.

What special features does it have?

The unique feature of Magnetic Hill is its extraordinary magnetic qualities, which are powerful enough to push passing aircraft upward to avoid magnetic interference and drag automobiles uphill. The area around Magnetic Hill offers additional attractions, such as the Hall of Fame Museum, Alchi Monastery, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, and Sangam, that are worth exploring.

And explain why you think it is interesting.

The region's topography and the nearby hills give the impression that you are standing on a hill. In reality, the steep road is a downward route.

Conclusion

Magnetic Hill's unmatched beauty and adventurous spirit make it an unforgettable destination.
