Describe an occasion when you spent time with a young child - IELTS cue card - sample answer 1

Introduction

It's truly a joyous experience to spend time with a young child. Their innocence and curiosity remind us of life's simple pleasures and open our eyes to new perspectives.

Who was the child?

Today, I would like to talk about an afternoon I spent with my little nephew, Yugveer, who is my elder sister’s baby. He is just 5 months old, with big, curious eyes and soft, black hair. We were at my sister's cosy apartment, filled with the fragrance of baby powder and his gentle cries echoing in the air.

When was it?

Last week, I went to my sister’s house to spend a day with my nephew. He is full of energy and loves to roam in his stroller. So, in the evening, I took him down to a garden so that he could enjoy himself.

Why did you spend time with the child?

I love spending time with him because I often cannot spend time with him because my sister and her family live far away from our house, so it was hard for us to meet them daily.

Conclusion

It was delightful to spend time with him as I forgot all my stress and felt so relaxed.

Introduction

Spending quality time with young children can help us learn a lot from them and also help relieve our stress. I'll discuss the instance where I spent time with the small youngster here.

Who was the child?

My uncle’s son, Saransh, is my son. When I saw him for the first time, he was just two years old. I admired his activities. His respect for elders and his manner of speaking made him super adorable.

When was it?

It happened last year, and I wasn't sure whether I could keep him entertained because I wasn't used to hanging out with small kids. But all my fears vanished when I saw his bright smile and heard cute giggles.

Why did you spend time with the child?

Saransh's parents requested that I watch him for a few hours since it was a hot summer day and they had some work. It was Saransh's third birthday, and I recall being a little anxious at first.

Conclusion

I felt happy during my time with Saransh, and I look forward to spending more time with him in the future.

Describe an occasion when you spent time with a young child - IELTS cue card - sample answer 3

Introduction

Quality time with young children can help us reduce stress and learn many things from them. Here, I am going to share about an occasion when I spent time with a young child.

Who was the child?

She is my aunt’s granddaughter. Her name is Amira. She came to Jaipur to attend a wedding with her family. Luckily, I was also there to attend that wedding, so I had a lot of time to spend with her.

When was it?

It happened Last year in March. It was her first visit to Jaipur after her birth. Luckily, it was my semester study holiday, so I spent my time caring for her, and she quickly got attached to me. Most of the day, she stays with me without their parents.

Why did you spend time with the child?

One day, Amira’s mother left her with me as she wanted to visit the salon to do her hair and buy Amira’s dress and other essentials. That whole day, Amira was with me; we both had a fun-filled day.

Conclusion

Regardless of the circumstances in your household or life, spending one-on-one time with children is a simple way to feel less stressed, happier, and more connected.

IELTS Speaking Part 3- Follow-Up Questions

Question- Do you believe that kids should have plenty of toys?

Answer- Having a lot of toys doesn't seem beneficial for kids because it will divert their focus. Giving kids many options makes them switch between toys since they have short attention spans. Having a small number of toys is preferable since it allows them to concentrate on them and expand their creativity from there. Another argument against having too many toys is that it spoils kids. Kids should learn to be content with what they already have rather than constantly requesting more.

Question- Where do children usually play?

Answer- Children who enjoy physical activities may be found in the park if one is close by. Additionally, active kids may play on a football field, basketball court, or gym near their house or school.

Question- Do you think parents must make decisions for their children?

Answer- It is indisputable that parents significantly influence how their children make decisions. On the other hand, progressively allowing kids to participate in decision-making promotes their independence and develops their capacity to assess situations, weigh options, and make wise decisions. Achieving a delicate balance between providing direction and fostering independence equips kids to handle the complexities of life.

Question- Do kids benefit from outside activities?

Answer- Yes, it offers several benefits. Engaging in these sports improves a child's agility and fitness and develops social skills, allowing them to interact and socialise with other kids.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the speaking component of the IELTS exam is crucial and demands thorough practice and preparation. The questions are open-ended, and the examiner may ask follow-up questions based on your responses. This is where your ability to think on your feet and maintain a coherent conversation is tested. Use your time wisely and respond confidently. We strongly encourage you to practice these sample answers and prepare thoroughly for the IELTS Speaking section.
